After thirteen years of successfully providing home repairs to the elderly and disabled in our community, Hardin County Repair Affair is hanging up its tool kit. During the 2011 planning process we recognized the need to restructure the organization and to begin the process of looking at other volunteer based programs. The result of our search led us to Hardin County Habitat for Humanity and their very similar project: A Brush with Kindness. This project provides assistance with minor home repairs as well as painting and exterior maintenance. Unlike Repair Affair, this assistance is provided year round.
Repair Affair will be turning over it's remaining funds to Hardin County Habitat for Humanity for support of A Brush with Kindness. Applicants who were not served this year will be referred for assistance through this project.
As we close out Hardin County Repair Affair let me take this opportunity to thank you for your support of a project that provided assistance to hundreds of Hardin county homeowners, provided thousands of hours of volunteer assistance and made a lasting impact in our community.
The Lincoln Trail Area Development District has been a proud partner in this event and we encourage each of you to continue to support our community through the sharing of your time and by providing financial assistance to those in need. We encourage coordination of efforts and feel the action of the Repair Affair board supports this strategy.
